Child safety standards — Rooms: Virtual Spaces
Rooms: Virtual Spaces strictly prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sexual solicitation of minors, sextortion and any content or conduct that sexualizes or exploits children. These standards apply to all users, profiles, Spaces, Stories, rooms and private communications. The Google Play open beta is intended for adults aged 18 and over; adult-only distribution does not diminish these protections.
Use the in-app Report action on a member or content to raise a safety concern. You can also contact our designated child-safety contact at rooms@theassemble.in. Include relevant account or content identifiers and a description; do not send or redistribute illegal images or videos. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
Our operator monitors this contact, reviews reports and takes action on confirmed violations, including removing prohibited material and restricting offending accounts. We comply with applicable child-safety laws and report confirmed CSAM to the relevant regional or national authorities. We preserve information where required for lawful reporting or investigation.
Delete your Rooms account
In the Rooms app, open Settings and select Delete account, then confirm. If you lead a Space, transfer its leadership first. You can also request account and associated personal-data deletion by emailing rooms@theassemble.in from your registered address with your Rooms username. Never send your password. We may verify ownership before acting on an email request.
Account deletion disables access, ends account sessions, removes friendships and clears identifying profile fields, including email, username, profile photo reference, background reference and biography. Your identity is replaced with a disabled-user identity. Conversation and shared activity history may remain for other participants. Deletion does not automatically erase every previously shared media file, message or operational record.
For removal of previously shared content or other associated personal data, identify the content in your email request. We review these requests subject to the rights of other participants and lawful safety, security and reporting obligations. Records necessary for those purposes may be retained; we do not promise a fixed automatic purge period.
YouTube video implementation and privacy
Rooms uses YouTube API Services for video discovery and metadata, and the official embedded YouTube player for playback. YouTube supplies the video, advertisements, restrictions and player links. Rooms does not download, extract, convert, relay or offer offline copies of YouTube audio or video.
Our implementation plan uses the YouTube Data API on the server to validate titles, channel names, duration and embedding eligibility. API credentials stay on the server. Videos designated Made for Kids and live streams are excluded from this shared finite-duration playback feature.
Each viewer plays the video directly from YouTube. Rooms shares the selected video ID, queue and playback timing with participants so host and co-host actions can synchronize playback. Hiding the video or backgrounding the client pauses that viewer’s YouTube playback; reopening the visible player rejoins the shared position. Room voice operates independently. Advertisements and buffering may cause temporary differences between viewers.
The player remains interactive with YouTube attribution and links. Room playback controls are outside the video viewport; native transport controls may use YouTube’s documented controls=0 option. Visible playback requires an adequately sized player and more than half of its viewport to be visible.
Rooms mobile version 2.2.38 (50) and the updated web player use YouTube’s Privacy Enhanced Mode through youtube-nocookie.com. YouTube says views in this mode do not personalize the viewer’s YouTube experience or advertising outside the app, and advertisements shown in this mode are non-personalized. This does not mean no information is sent to YouTube. Older app versions may still use the standard embed. Opening a link on YouTube leaves this embedded mode and is governed by that service’s policies. See YouTube’s explanation of Privacy Enhanced Mode.
YouTube and Google may receive device/network information, including IP address and playback requests, and may use cookies or similar technologies according to their policies. Loading or playing embedded content can share information with those providers. Rooms does not request your YouTube password or access your Google account for this feature. We retain room video selections and queue information as room activity; requests to delete associated personal data can be made through account settings or our contact address below.
By using this feature, you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Please also read the Google Privacy Policy and YouTube Developer Policies. This description explains the integration; it does not represent endorsement or certification by Google or Apple.
